Agent Not Responding
Key Takeaway
Your agent has exactly three states: Active, Paused (you paused it), or No signal (its heartbeat went stale). Any downtime also shows up in the "Needs you" queue on Home, so check there first.
Your agent only has three real states. Once you know which one you're in, the fix is usually obvious.
The three states
Active. Your agent is running and its heartbeat is fresh. This is the normal state, nothing to do.
Paused. You paused it yourself (or it's brand new and hasn't started its first run yet). Nothing is wrong. Go to Home and resume it when you're ready.
No signal. The agent was active, but its heartbeat has gone stale. This means something between the agent and the app lost contact. It's not the same as a pause, and it's worth a look.
Don't confuse "resting" with any of these. If your agent used up its daily budget, it goes quiet until it resets, and that's normal too. It isn't a failure state.
Where to check
Open Home. The agent status is right there, and any downtime shows up in the Needs you queue automatically, you don't have to go hunting for it.
If Home shows "No signal":
- Give it a few minutes. Heartbeats can lag briefly without anything being wrong.
- Check the Needs You queue for a related item, it often explains what's waiting.
- Refresh the page. Stale UI state clears more often than an actual agent problem.
- If it's still showing "No signal" after that, email support@leadclaw.io.
Common causes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Shows Paused unexpectedly | You (or a teammate) paused it, or it hasn't run yet | Resume from Home |
| Shows No signal | Heartbeat lost contact | Wait a few minutes, refresh, check Needs You |
| Active but no new leads | No goal is running, or it's between sends | Check your Goals page |
| Chat messages slow to answer | Agent is mid-task | Give it a minute; it'll catch up |
